The Beginner's Guide to Acupressure

Be sure to read the Warnings, and Directions for Using Acupressure.

Items marked (M) indicate likely need for medical attention.
Items marked (EM!) indicate potential need for emergency medical attention.

For these symptoms, only use acupressure to supplement professional medical care, or when no professional medical care is available. Only try acupressure for these symptoms after seeking professional care and after using standard first aid and emergency techniques.

Acupoint # 1

Diagram 1

To find this point, squeeze the thumb and forefinger together, forming a ridge just above the thumb. The point is in the middle of the ridge, just above the end of the crease formed by the thumb and forefinger. This point is good for most problems dealing with the waist up.

21 Useful Acupressure Points

Acupressure points are on both sides of the body unless noted by
(s) for single point. For ease of use the Acupressure points here
are just sequentially numbered, these numbers do not relate to their
anatomical name which is listed in each diagram. A unit of
measurement call a Cun is often refered to.

To find the exact location, use the diagrams displayed then apply
pressure with finger or thumb until the most sensitive spot is
found, this will be the correct position.

Numerous techniques are used to stimulate Acupressure points.
The most common is to apply pressure with finger or thumb for a
20 to 30 second period. Rest for a moment then reapply pressure.
You may need to do this several times until the sensitivity
decreases. Another method is to sharply tap the point with the
index finger.

As you start to improve, you can back-off the treatments.
