LumenS Therapy
"How And Why It Is Exciting News!"
Research using infrared lights has been in progress for many years for healing purposes regarding soft tissue injuries and pain management. The Food and Drug Administration has cleared a number of applications for consumer use, allowing access to this technology without a prescription.
Research is currently being done on the different effects of different spectrums of light on living tissue. It is thought that visible red spectrum, which is roughly in the 600 to 700 nanometer range, is effective with surface issues such as wound care and that higher wavelengths including infrared, are more penetrating. The LEDs being used are as much as 10 times the brightness of the sun, without harmful UV..
Alive And Be Well has acquired a device that combines both the red light range and the infrared range in a product known as the LumenS. This unit, when used on any setting for 2 to 5 minutes over each affected area, seems to relieve arthritic pain and soreness. ........ pain and soreness.
Think of it as an electronic aspirin and pain reliever. Other research regarding this technology indicates the following additional beneficial effects on tissues and cells:
........
1. ACCELERATED TISSUE REPAIR AND CELL GROWTH
Photons of light from LEDs penetrate deeply into tissue and accelerate cellular reproduction and growth. The LED light increases the energy available to the cell so that the cell can take on nutrients faster and get rid of waste products. Because of exposure to the 96 LED lights, 32 each of high intensity yellow, red and infrared, the cells of tendons, ligaments, muscles, vertebral discs and nerves are repaired faster.
2. FASTER WOUND HEALING
LED photon light stimulates fibroblast development (fibroblasts are the building blocks of collagen, which is predominant in wound healing) in damaged tissue. Collagen is the essential protein required to replace old tissue or to repair tissue injuries. As a result, LED therapy can be effective on open wounds and burns.
3. REDUCED FIBROUS TISSUE FORMATION
LED photon light reduces formation of scar tissue following tissue damage from cuts, scratches, burns or surgery. Scar tissue formation is one of the leading causes of chronic pain. Traditional medications cannot reduce scar tissue formation.
4. ANTI-INFLAMMATION
LED photon therapy has an anti-edemic effect as it causes vasodilation (increased blood flow), but it also activates the lymphatic drainage system (drains swollen areas). As a result, there is a reduction in swelling caused by bruising or inflammation.
5. ANTI-PAIN (Analgesic)
LED photon therapy has a high beneficial effect on nerve cells which block pain transmitted by these cells to the brain and which decreases nerve sensitivity. Due to less inflammation, there is less edema (swelling) and less pain. Another pain blocking mechanism involves the production of high levels of pain killing chemicals such as endorphins and enkephlins from the brain and adrenal gland.
6. IMPROVED-VASCULAR ACTIVITY
LED photon light will significantly increase the formation of new capillaries in damaged tissue that speeds up the healing process, closes wounds quickly and reduces scar tissue. Additional benefits include acceleration of angiogenesis which causes temporary vasodilation (increased blood flow and diameter of blood vessels).
7. INCREASED METABOLIC ACTIVITY
LED photon therapy creates higher outputs of specific enzymes, greater oxygen and nutrient loads for blood cells.
8. IMPROVED NERVE FUNCTION
Slow recovery of nerve functions in damaged tissue can result in numbness and impaired limbs. LED photon light will speed up the process of nerve cell reconnection and increase the amplitude (speed) of nerve impulses to optimize muscle action.
9. IMMUNOREGULATION
LED photon light has a direct effect on immunity status by stimulation of immunoglobines and lymphocytes. LED photon light is absorbed by chromophomes (molecule enzymes) that react to this light. The enzyme Flavomono-nucleotide is activated and starts the production of ATP (adenosine-tri-phosphate), which is the major carrier of cell energy and the source of all chemical reactions in the cells. Therefore, healing time is drastically reduced.
10. TRIGGER POINTS and ACUPUNCTURE POINTS
LED photon therapy stimulates muscle trigger points (debilitating tender and painful knots) by disrupting blood-flow circulation patterns to reduce pain and swelling.
